Entry formalities
A passport with an entry and visitor visa is required. It is issued by the Malian consulate in your country.
For nationals of CEDEAO countries (Algeria, Cameroon, Andorra, Monaco, Chad, Gambia, Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia), an identity card or valid passport is sufficient.

Health
Being in good health is essential to be able to enjoy your holiday to the full. If you have scheduled a medical visit, tell your doctor about your upcoming trip and ask him to give you a check-up. A visit to the dentist is also advisable. Think about taking your usual medication and treatments.

Malaria: Mali is classed a zone 2 area. It is thus imperative for you to protect yourself with an adequate anti-malaria treatment. During your stay, especially in the rainy season period (July to October), protect yourself from mosquitoes using a mosquito spray and long clothing at nightfall.

Only the vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory (valid 10 years), no later than fifteen days before your departure date. We advise you to update these vaccinations: tetanus, poliomyelitis, hepatitis A and B, meningitis. Check your vaccination booklet and bring it with you.

Insurance

Repatriation insurance is mandatory when you purchase your holiday. Subscribing to this insurance is, in particular, your guarantee that any health care you need will be organised and provided for, and ensures your eventual repatriation during your travels when required.

You can also subscribe to insurance for loss of luggage, cancellation or delay during the purchase of your plane ticket.

Credit cards are rarely used in Mali. Payment is, for the most part, made in cash. Only the International Visa card is accepted for payment of your extras and only by some banks for withdrawing cash (rather restricting). Major banks in Mali's larger cities accept traveller's cheques. We thus advise you to carry euros or dollars with you that you can exchange on the spot.
